19 March 2013
On Wednesday 13 March the College’s A Level Citizenship students attended an ‘Act Now’ workshop presented by the Home Office and Prevent Police.
The workshop demonstrated counter terrorism operation through interactive role-plays, videos and information reports. Students were taught about the 4 Ps of counter terrorism; prevent, protect, pursue and prepare.
The session enabled students to think about the difficulties the police face when dealing with terrorism, especially when trying to prevent it while adhering to people’s civil liberties.
A Levels Advanced Practitioner, Hans Svennevig, commented: “The students were empowered from today’s session, which dealt with human rights ensuring that equality and diversity values were highlighted throughout.”
