Computing Courses for Adults

Adult Short Courses in Hertfordshire

Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to build on current skills, we can help you improve your knowledge in this fast moving digital age.

We offer computing courses for beginners and Excel or Word courses to improve your confidence at work. If you'd like to know more about social media or eBay, we also have courses covering those subjects.

Please note you need to be aged 19 or over in order to enroll on our community learning courses. Our courses also need sufficient numbers in order to run but we'll contact you in case of a cancellation.

CLAiT Workshop (Unit 1 Awards in Microsoft Office): Jan, Tue, 19:00-21:00

This is a workshop activity where the tutor will be supporting you either 1-2-1 or in small groups as you progress through the material. Students can choose which unit/s they would like to study at level 1. Units available are File Management and Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Presentation and Publication. Once you have been issued your resources it is essential that you undertake independent study between lessons to meet the unit/s goals.

Excel for Work: Jan, Wed, 19:00-21:00

This short course will reintroduce you to the standard options available and then focus on specific elements used in the workplace. Thiis will include formulas – average, min, max and relative addressing, creating and amending charts, hiding worksheets, columns and rows, conditional formatting, functions, protecting workbook and invaluable tips and tricks.

Essential ICT Skills - Beginners Guide: Feb, Thu, 19:00-21:00

You will learn how to use Microsoft Word to create documents that include applying different text styles and sizes as well as inserting images, saving and printing your work. Downloading pictures, linking with file management to create folders to store images and documents. Learning the fundamentals of Excel and a tour around the internet and email.

Presenting with PowerPoint: Mar, Wed, 19:00-21:00

This short course is focused on enhancing your existing skills in PowerPoint and extending them to incorporate additional features commonly used in the workplace. This will include: setting up and using slide masters; formatting slides; animations and transitions; inserting different objects & media into slides; running slide shows; and different printing options.

Advanced Excel: Apr, Wed, 19:00-21:00

This short course is focused on understanding and applying advanced features with Microsoft Excel 2016. This will include Pivot Tables, Lookup Formulas (VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP), amending and creating templates, absolute/ relative formulas, conditional formatting and linking. To join and benefit from this course you need to be proficient in using this application. Ideally you will have completed the Excel for Work course or be currently working at an intermediate level. Word for Work: Apr, Wed, 19:00-21:00

This short course will reintroduce you to the standard options available and then focus on specific elements for use in the workplace, this will include the mail merge process, creating labels, inserting images and shapes into documents, formatting documents, headers and footers and document security.
