Adult Short Courses in Hertfordshire

Master basic hand and machine sewing techniques and create your own unique garments.

We offer computing courses for beginners and Excel or Word courses to improve your confidence at work. If you'd like to know more about social media or eBay, we also have courses covering those subjects.

Please note you need to be aged 19 or over in order to enroll on our community learning courses. Our courses also need sufficient numbers in order to run but we'll contact you in case of a cancellation.

Basic Sewing Machine Skills in a Day: Sat 19 Oct, 10:00-16:00

If your a complete beginner looking to make sense of how to use a sewing machine or looking to refresh your skills and want guidance on aspects of the sewing machine then this one day course is for you. On this course you will learn all you need to know about using and making the most of a sewing machine. During this workshop you will make a variety of samples to refer to and create a handy draw string bag to consolidate your newly learnt skills.

Dressmaking: Create a Pattern, Make a Skirt - Sat 9 & 16 Nov, 10:00-16:00

A follow on course from Basic Sewing Machine Skills in a Day where you will make a simple skirt with a zip. Learn to take body measurements and cut a pattern to size. This two day course is aimed at enhancing learners with basic and intermediate skills. You will also develop pattern cutting and construction techniques, the end result will be a skirt from your measurements.
