Foreign Language Courses for Adults

Adult Short Courses in Hertfordshire

We have a range of language courses to suit all levels, so whether you are a complete beginner or want to improve a language you have studied, our courses will accommodate you.

We offer computing courses for beginners and Excel or Word courses to improve your confidence at work. If you'd like to know more about social media or eBay, we also have courses covering those subjects.

Please note you need to be aged 19 or over in order to enroll on our community learning courses. Our courses also need sufficient numbers in order to run but we'll contact you in case of a cancellation.

Italian Improvers: Feb, Thu, 19:00-21:00

The focus is mainly on Speaking and Listening. Students will be taught in the target language from the first session: Topics include getting around, making enquiries and booking accommodation, eating out, travelling and basic telephoning.

Spanish Improvers Continuation: Apr, Wed, 19:00-21:00

The theme of the course is to revise and extend: Building on previous knowledge including shopping, eating out, booking theatre tickets, talking about work, giving directions, expressing likes and dislikes. You will revise the present tense, including key irregular verbs, saying what you are going to do, talking about things that happened in the past.

Advanced Spanish (Part C) Day: Apr, Fri, 12:45-14:45

This advanced course is a continuation from Part B where you will continue to develop their knowledge and understanding of the society and culture of Spain and to extend their practical skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. You need to be a confident speaker who wants to participate in lively, engaging conversations on a wide variety of topics in Spanish. Prep for Intermediate Spanish (Part C): Apr, Mon, 19:00-21:00

The focus is mainly on developing Speaking and Listening. You will acquire the ability to respond more flexibly to the complexities of situations through more detailed study or grammar and vocabulary. There will be some focus on reading through looking at public notices, tourist information leaflets, and adverts. There will also be some simple writing tasks such as filling in forms and writing simple letters and postcards.
