All the fun of the Summer Fayre

Thousands flocked to the College’s St Albans Campus on Sunday (14 June) to enjoy all the delights of the annual Summer Fayre. 

The clouds and drizzle were not enough to stop visitors enjoying an action-packed day, which included horseball, birds of prey demonstrations, fun fair, tractor rides, puppet shows, chainsaw carving and the ever popular sheep racing. 

The Equestrian Centre treated guests to show jumping and dressage demonstrations, while younger visitors enjoyed pony rides. 

The College’s Performing Arts and Music students took to the main stage throughout the day to entertain the crowd, and guests also got the chance to see the kit car built by Motor Vehicle students from scratch. 

The food court provided tasty treats throughout the day, including pizza, crepes and hog roast, and Hospitality & Catering students got first hand experience of the catering industry by serving pulled pork, sausage and bacon baps and haggis, neeps and tatties.

Oaklands Principal Zoe Hancock said: “The Summer Fayre is the biggest event in our calendar and it’s one we always look forward to. It really is fantastic to be able to open our doors to the local community and provide a wonderful day out for the whole family.”
