Cyber Security Technician

The primary role of a Cyber Security Technologist is to apply an understanding of cyber threats, hazards, risks, controls, measures and mitigations to protect organisations systems and people.

Employers benefit from a skilled workforce academically and vocationally. The course is based on industry needs following the employer led apprenticeship standard and designed for delivery by Oaklands College with support from local employers in the IT industry.

Apprentices will benefit from formal learning whilst being in paid employment and without paying any tuition fees. The course integrates relevant work place experience to knowledge modules.

 Level: Level 4
 Duration: 24 Months
 Location: Welwyn Garden City campus
 Entry Requirements:
Level 2 English and maths will need to be achieved, if not already, prior to taking the end point assessment. Applicants must be in full-time employment within England.

  • Security Case Development and Design Good Practice
  • Security Technology Building Blocks
  • Employment of Cryptography 
 Cost The employer contribution will differ depending on a number of factors including employer paybill and number of employees. Please contact us for further information.

Professional recognition

This apprenticeship is recognised for entry to both IISP and BCS Associate Membership and for entry onto the Register of IT Technicians confirming SFIA level 3 professional competence.

Joining the course

Employers can enrol existing staff members or recruit new staff. Students interested in this course will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week.
