Beauty students donate food and gifts to food bank

Beauty students helped less fortunate families have a happy Christmas by donating food and presents to a food bank

Beauty students from the College’s Welwyn Garden City Campus helped less fortunate families have a happy Christmas by donating food and presents to a food bank in the town.

The students donated food including tinned fruit, pasta, rice and biscuits, as well as toys and clothes that could be given as gifts by families struggling to afford Christmas presents for their children.

Visitors to the food bank at the New Zion Christian Fellowship on Cole Green Lane were also treated to treatments by the students as they helped distribute the food and gifts.

Student Bryony Cook, 19, said: “We thought it was really important at this time of year to help other people – it’s a really rewarding thing to do.”

Fellow student Emily Purches, 19, said: “It’s a different way of helping others, and being able to offer some treatments is also a nice treat for people.”

Kayleigh Moran-Hawkins, the students’ tutor said: “We are all very proud of our students for the kindness and generosity they have shown by helping out at the food bank. They even forfeited their Christmas party to do this. We’d like to say a massive thank-you to everyone who donated to our gifts boxes. We were blown away by people’s generosity and we’re very grateful.”
