People of Borehamwood got the chance to try something new at Oaklands College’s Have a Go Day.

Visitors came along to the Community Hub at 96 Shenley Road where they could take part in a wide range of activities, including milking an artificial cow, beauty treatments, brickwork and cupcake decorating.

The College’s Animal Care Department was also on hand to help younger visitors cuddle friendly rabbits.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Hertsmere Cllr Carey and Shirley Keates also came along and spoke to students and had a go at some of the activities themselves.

Cllr Keates said: “I was delighted to attend this event and to see for myself the wide range of vocational courses that Oaklands offers.  As a council, we have a key role to play in supporting the development of skills which was why we worked with Oaklands to organise this event.”

Oaklands’ Principal Zoe Hancock said: “It was wonderful to see so many youngsters getting involved in activities they had never tried before, and being able to let local people know what is available to them at the College.”

The free event was organised in partnership with Hertsmere Borough Council.
