BIRMINGHAM — A Graphic Design student from Oaklands picked up a medal at a recent national competition that recognises the skills of young people across the country.
Hannah Martin, 17, made it to the final of the graphic design category at the WorldSkills UK National Finals at the NEC in Birmingham, picking up a bronze medal.
“I was really happy to get my medal because I didn’t think I was going to make it to the final. I enjoyed the experience and it has boosted my confidence,” said Hannah, who is studying graphic design at the St Albans Campus.
Hannah was one of only 10 young people to make it to the final where competitors were asked to design packaging and advertising material for an organisation called Space to Earth, which encourages youngsters to get active.
“My time at college has been really helpful to me because I had the chance to work on lots of different projects, and the feedback I have had means I know what works and what doesn’t, said Hannah.
Hannah’s tutor, Phil Heath, said: “It is a great achievement for Hannah to get as far as she did against such high end competition, particularly as some of the competitors were in their first year of university, and a few were already working as graphic designers.”
Hannah also had success earlier this year when one of her animations led to St Albans based luxury baby clothing company Tommy & Lottie being awarded a silver prize in the Use of Video for Business category of the Hertfordshire Digital Awards. Read More Here
