Oaklands College Welwyn Garden City campus is now the proud home of a dedicated CITB Health, Safety and Environment test centre at Oaklands College St Albans.


Who are these test for?


A CSCS Card shows that you have the Health and Safety knowledge needed to work safely in the Construction Industry A colour system and the CSCS Card you qualify for grade the CSCS Cards depends on your level of training, experience, courses, qualifications and trade.


Entry requirements


Applicants must be at least 16 years old and hold an NVQ Level 2 in their chosen construction trade.

Oaklands College Welwyn Garden City campus is now the proud home of a dedicated welding training facility. In response to the local need for welding skills, we now offer a suite of single-unit qualifications that can be attended alongside full time work.

Who are these courses for?


Individuals looking to start a career in welding or progress to a higher-level welding qualification, those wanting to retrain or return to work or those requiring practical training to support hobbies. Typical roles include Welder, Fabricator Welder, Motor Vehicle Technician, Commercial Vehicle Technician and Engineer.


What will you learn?


These qualifications provide students with the knowledge and introductory skills in the chosen disciplines listed below. This is delivered through theory, simulated virtual technique development and practical hands on skills.


Entry requirements


Applicants must be at least 16 years old. There are no formal entry requirements.

Each Award will cost £650.

3 hours (6pm – 9pm) Tuesday Evening per week for 15 week. Next intake for welding courses starts in January 2018.

We have classrooms and a variety of electrical working bays to facilitate a one stop shop for a number of courses.

We have our own Logic approved Gas centre with a number of appliances for gas training and assessment. We have a flexible training approach to offer candidates to select appliances that are most relevant to their work and career paths.

The content and material is industry related and we have a good number of our students returning to us to update their industry qualification.
