Do you experience difficulties in using maths in daily situations, want to improve your calculations and numerical confidence for work and home? Then by joining this class you will be with other adults who are eager to learn in an informal and supportive environment. Our course are for those who want to improve their confidence and understanding of numbers, you will develop your existing skills and gain confidence in using maths in everyday situations. The content will be tailored based on the needs of the class and will include covering the basic operations (+, -, x, ÷) and percentages. At the start of the course you will complete a short assessment to ascertain your current level. Part A runs for 10 weeks and then you can continue on to Part B in January.

About the department

The Community Learning Team has a longstanding reputation of delivering courses at the College and in the community. Our courses allow you to develop skills in an informal, friendly and fun environment.

Many of our courses are leisure orientated, but we also offer courses that improve your Maths and English Skills, build your self-confidence, and increase your job prospects. In some of our classes, you can also gain a qualification e.g. Sign Language.

What are the Course Requirements?

Learners have to be 19 years old or over. There are no entry requirements for this course. We will offer a confidential interview and provide advice on the right course for you.

There will be ongoing assessments and tests appropriate to your skills level.

  • 16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

  • Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.
