The course will give you the relevant skills for games development so you can enter a career in the gaming industry. About the department

Our Media Department is a dynamic and forward thinking department dedicated to expanding the skills and minds of our students. You will be able to work creatively with film, video and print, with the guidance of highly skilled teaching staff with extensive experience of working in the industry.

You will have access to our state-of-the-art media suites, featuring industry standard hardware and software, to ensure you are familiar with the equipment you will come across while working in the industry.

We will help you build on existing skills and develop new ones, to make sure you are fully prepared to work in the media industry, or progress further into Higher Education.


Important Course Information

What are the Course Requirements?

Four GCSEs at Grade 4 or Grade C or above normally including Engish and Maths, or a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject. You will also need to present a peice of work relating to games and/or animation and an example of written work at interview.

Throughout the course, students will be working towards live briefs on projects and getting a real insight to the industry by working with industry experts, this will give our students all the skills needed in order to succeed within the games development field. You will develop skills in communication, use of digital programmes to present digital mediums, 2D and 3D games software, and analysis techniques in order to apply ideas to the games design process.

Throughout the course you will be expected to use the most appropriate methods and techniques to suit the assessment task being completed.
