About the department

The Health and Social Care Team are made up of lecturers with both academic and vocational backgrounds in Health and Social Care and related disciplines. They will provide excellent support to help you achieve your goals.

The team uses a large variety of teaching strategies to meet everyone’s needs. You will be encouraged to develop your skills and experience, and given all the support you need to help you progress and meet your career goals.

You will get the chance to undertake supervised work placements, where you will get a feel for what it is like to work as a care practitioner.

Important Course Information

What are the Course Requirements?

No formal entry requirements but you will require a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

You will gain an understanding of equality and diversity, how to communicate effectively, how to support children and adults, health and safety , the Importance of healthy eating and the development of children and young people through play.

You will also have the opportunity to gain some work experience in either the Care or Early Years Sectors.

You will be able to progress on to the level 2 Health and Social Care course or the level 2 Childcare course.
