Level 1 Diploma in Land Based Studies (Horticulture)

The full title of the qualification is City and Guilds/NPTC Level 1 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Land Based Studies (0361-01). The course is 1 year (35 weeks in duration) This qualification provides a flexible introduction to the horticultural industry that can be achieved unit by unit. This programme includes the following units: Safe & Effective Working Practices, Develop Performance, and contribute to the Propagation, Establishment and Maintenance of Plants and Lawns and to assist with Maintenance of Structures & Surfaces. At the end of the course you will achieve a level 1 Diploma. As this course is part of the foundation learning tier you will be required to complete functional skills in maths and/or English at a level suitable to your ability. You will also be required to complete a Personal Development skills qualification.

Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture

The course will be 1 year in duration (35 weeks of learning). The course will cover a wide range of subjects including, soil and plant science, plant propagation, surveying, plant identification, establishment and maintenance of plants, site plans and hard landscaping.

Skills for Working Life in Horticulture

The course is 1 year long (35 taught weeks) The full course title is NPTC Entry Level Diploma in Skills for Working Life - Land-based (land and plants) (Entry 3) This course is designed to be mainly a hands on introduction to Horticulture. You will take part in many practical activities such as pruning, weeding, planting and lawn care. As this course is part of the foundation learning tier you will be required to complete functional skills in maths and/or English at a level suitable to your ability. You will also be required to complete Personal development skills qualifications.
