Level 2 Award in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Operation and Maintenance – April
This course is designed for technicians who maintain and repair hybrid technology vehicles (not the actual hybrid system). It contains the knowledge required to work safely around a vehicles hybrid system, whilst carrying out repairs or maintenance. On completion of this qualification, technicians will have gained knowledge of high voltage hybrid technologies and an understanding of their dangers.
Course Content - What will I learn?
You will cover the following: Identify key components and their function, Work safely on hybrid and electric vehicle systems, Safe disconnection and reconnection of high voltage cabling and correct usage of tools.
Am I right for the course?
This short course is run over two consective Saturdays and is suitable for adults who have a keen interest in the motor vehicle sector and who work or wish to work as a mechanic or technician.
Industry related Level 2 qualification or four years experience in the trade.
You will require steel toed boots and appropriate workwear (long sleeves a requirement for all practical and assessment tasks).
This knowledge qualification is tested via a multiple-choice tests and practical assessments.

L3 Award Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement (Not currently available at Oaklands College).
Our Motor Vehicle courses will teach you motor vehicle maintenance and repair in our purpose built workshop based at St Albans Campus. Our Motor Vehicle Maintenance courses are taught by experienced motor-trade professionals. They will give you the relevant skills to start a motor vehicle apprenticeship or begin work in the industry.
16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.
For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.
Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.
All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
