Overview

This four week course will equip learners with the knowledge and skills required for the green skills industry through a combination of classroom learning and practical work experience. Green skills are required to work in arboriculture which includes understanding ecology and biodiversity as well as health and safety.

If you are interested in a career occupation such as tree climber, tree surgeon, arborist or forestry worker, then this course allows you to gain an entry level understanding along with employability skills ready for the workplace.

Course Content - What will I learn?

– Insights to the green sector and in green space
– Introduction to ecology and biodiversity and Ecology awareness
– Tree planting and aftercare, Introduction to tree surveying
– Invasive and Non-Native Species (INNS) awareness and detection
– Soft-skills training, including interview techniques, CV and cover letter writing, and digital literacy.

To be eligible for this course, you must be:
• 19 years old+
• Live in Hertfordshire
• Able to drive
• Right to work

None – Aimed at entry level learners, without any industry knowledge or experience

There is no formal assessment process.

Qualified staff within subject area.

Fees

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
