Overview

Skills Bootcamps is an exciting new funded initiative for Hertfordshire designed to provide short flexible training courses where individuals will gain sector specific skills for life, enabling individuals to enter into the sector, retain in a new industry or upskill in their current career.

This course has been designed to equip learners with the relevant skills, knowledge and behaviours to support children and young people with their mental health. This bootcamp will provide learners with an introduction to identifying concerns or risk factors, impact of concerns and supporting children with their emotional wellbeing, and safeguarding and foundational knowledge for those that want to explore working within the mental health sector and young people.

Any candidates who are unemployed will have guaranteed interview on completion of the programme with a local employer.

Course Content - What will I learn?

– Introduction to Children & Young People’s Mental Health
– Understanding factors that affect a child or young person’s mental health
– Understanding poor mental health in children and young people
– Supporting children and young people with their mental health

Am I right for the course?

To be eligible for this course, you must be:
• 19 years old+ as of 31/08/23
• Live in Hertfordshire or in proximity
• Right to work (Passport for evidence)
• Good level of English and Maths

– Good level of English and Maths
– Attendance of planned sessions whether they are online or at a Oaklands College campus
– Looking to gain employment on completion, or develop your career through new roles/responsibilities

There are no formal exams or assessments, however students will complete activities to support their learning which will be reviewed by the tutor to support individual development.

You will be taught by industry professionals from Hertfordshire who have the knowledge and skills to support you throughout this course.

Fees

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
