Overview

NEW: Extended to 10 lessons.
This is a workshop activity for those who have previous art experience, the primary medium will be acrylic. You will gain a deeper understanding of the basic theories (i.e. line, tone, form etc) and are encouraged to explore your own interests in developing your work.

Course Content - What will I learn?

Review of basic topics (edges, spaces, relationships, lights, shadows, etc.), the use of the sketchbook. How to find a subject to create more personal responses. Life drawing (expressive drawing / mark making / response to stimulus), use of expressive colour which is all based around direct observation.

Am I right for the course?

This course is for all learners 19 years old or over who have some experience in Drawing and Painting. The tutor will assess students during the first session and provide support to develop individual skills in this field.

Observation, one-to-one feedback, creation of a portfolio of work,
group discussion / peer critique

Materials to be provided by the learners: Basic drawing / painting materials Sketch books Work book (A3 or above) A shopping list will be given to students on first day – materials can also be added to throughout the course.

Fees

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
