Interior Design for Beginners: Starts Tue 8 Feb, 19:00-21:00


To provide basic knowledge of interior designing; to enable students to experiment with lighting, fabrics, colour, texture, space planning and layout.  Students to bring pen, pad, a variety of Interiors/ lifestyle magazines, which will be used to create inspiration boards and for class tasks. Any paint colour chip cards, fabrics, wallpapers, finishes that have been collected and are of interest to you.

Course Content - What will I learn?

Building structure, planning and layout, measuring and area calculation. Space and furniture. Design style, how to use ideas from magazines, books and TV. Lighting – natural and artificial. Decorating with colour. Practical decorating; wallpaper, paint and paint effects, floor finishes. Window treatments. Decorating with objects, mirrors and paintings and using plants in an interior.

Am I right for the course?

This course is for all students 19 years old or over who want to explore an interest in interior design.

There are no entry requirements.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
