Mindfulness for Daily Living: Thu 4 May,19:00-21:00



The two fold purpose of the course is: 1) to teach students how to meditate using the Mindful focus on the breath and 2) to teach students how to use other basic Mindfulness techniques effectively in their daily lives so that they can lessen the negative impact of stress on their health and wellbeing.

Course Content - What will I learn?

Students will learn basic Mindful meditation and mindful living techniques which can help them to relax, be less stressed and enable them to cope with the difficulties that can come in everyday living. Students will learn how to use Mindful techniques to overcome common emotional issues. Students will learn basic Mindfulness strategies to maximise self-help in order to maintain positive, healthy changes in their lives.


Am I right for the course?

This course is a basic introduction to Mindfulness meditation and Mindful living techniques. Designed for those with either very little or no prior previous experience who want to learn Mindfulness meditation to live mindfully, day by day, in order to manage stress and alleviate its negative effects on health and wellbeing.

Students need to be 19 years old and over to join. You need to be open minded about learning to meditate using Mindfulness techniques and learning experiential techniques for Mindful living. Students need to be willing to do homework each week which consists, mainly, of practicing Mindful techniques in their daily lives and/or practicing Mindful meditation. They may also have to undertake brief internet research or read brief articles about Mindfulness.

Assessment through ‘teacher assessment’ of individuals: through answering questions in group discussions, the completion of the assigned exercises in class, participation in exercises, effective completion of the homework through their self-reported use of the techniques that they have learned in the class. Also assessment through ‘peer assessment’ – gathering feedback from their peers/fellow students when working together in the pairs.

Students need to attend regularly, each week, as this course builds upon techniques taught in a sequence. Students need to come with a willingness to learn new ways of relating to self and others.
