Am I right for the course?

All students who have a keen interest in beauty therapy will enjoy this course. You will need to be organised, committed and willing to work independently and as part of a group, as the course is both rigorous and demanding in an academic and practical sense. If you think this suits you, then you will find the course interesting, stimulating, challenging and very rewarding. It is a requirement that students will attend one day per week which is usually a Saturday, as this reflects industry standards. You will need to be able to attend every lesson, and be aware that there is an expectation for you to complete research, assignments and practice all practical treatments at home. There is a need for at least 10 hours independent study as well as experiencing the treatments whilst attending college per week.

Three GCSEs at Grade D or above or successful completion of a VRQ or NVQ Level 1 Beauty Therapy. An ESOL L2 qualification is also required for applicants whose first language is not English.

Assessment is evidenced in a portfolio of work. Assessments include examination, observation, written, assignments and oral questioning. You will treat clients in the commercial salon and will receive practice treatments from students.

STUDENTS WILL NEED TO PURCHASE A KIT AND UNIFORM FROM THE COLLEGE (Approx 250.00). This Cost includes a consumable price to cover products and disposables needed. Students are required to perform and receive all treatments in the course. Oasis at Oaklands is our commercial salon which provides students with the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of working in an operational salon. Students will be required to bring clients in for practical assessments aswell as working on the general public. You will be attending college up to 8 hours per week this may include a Saturday to reflect your future industry experience. Additionally you will be required to complete up to 10 hours per week home study.
