Level 2 Certificate in Creating a Business Start Up – Online
Overview
The NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Creating a Business Start-up is designed for adults (age 19+) seeking the skills and knowledge needed to develop a business start-up.
It will give learners an understanding of the initial processes and requirements of a business start-up, knowledge of the first steps in creating a business start-up, including the marketing, legal and financial requirements, and an understanding of how to write a business plan.
This qualification will:
– focus on the study of starting a business
– support learners in creating a business plan
The objective of this qualification is to:
– gain an understanding of the steps of creating and developing a business start-up
– develop an awareness of business skills
– increase self-awareness and aid personal development
This qualification is delivered entirely online, however students will also have the option of either a weekly online or face to face tutorial.
Course Content - What will I learn?
Within the course you will study a range of units, that may include the following:
– Initial steps for a business start-up
– Marketing for a business start-up
– Legal and financial considerations for a business start-up
– Developing a business plan
While completing this qualification, learners may develop the knowledge, understanding and essential skills employers look for in employees. These range from familiar ‘key skills’, such as team working, independent learning and problem solving, to more tricky-to-measure skills, such as:
– an appreciation for appropriate behaviour and dress
– appropriate interpersonal skills
– communicating with professional colleagues/peers and/or hierarchical seniors
– supporting other aspiring employees
– personal manners and deportment
– understanding work practices and how different roles and departments function within an
organisation.
Am I right for the course?
This course is suitable for adults seeking the skills and knowledge needed to develop a business start-up.
You must hold GCSE / L2 Functional skills in either Maths or English or international equivalents.
Learners will complete an online portfolio of evidence throughout the course.
Delivery of this qualification will be entirely online. Pre-prepared lesson resources will be published weekly with audio overlay. Students will be able to meet with tutors each week for support online.
What Next?
This qualification aims to equip learners with the skills and knowledge they need to successfully start up their own business.
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to further Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications in areas
where business skills are of importance.
It may also be useful to learners studying qualifications in the following sectors:

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.
For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.
Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.
All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
