Course Content - What will I learn?

The VTCT Diploma in Barbering is specifically designed to underpin good barbering practices in this expanding professional area. You will develop practical barbering
skills to a high level, taking part in special projects, demonstrations and hands-on workshops. You will have the opportunity to work with clients and thrive in our professional salon.

You will focus on cutting menÂ’s hairbut will also refine your skills in specialisms such as: cutting facial hair, providing effective shampooing and conditioning, dry and finish menÂ’s hair, consultation service for clients plus offering customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation.

Optional units include: change menÂ’s hair colour or create basic patterns in hair.

What Next?

Successful completion means you are eligible to become a graduate State Registered Barber (SRB) with The Hairdressing Council. Whilst this qualificationÂ’s primary
purpose is to enable employment as a junior barber, you may choose to further develop your knowledge and skills by undertaking a Technical Level qualification in barbering at Level 3 e.g. Advanced Apprenticeship in Barbering.

Career opportunities as a junior menÂ’s hairdresser exist in a variety of contexts, including: Commercial barber shops, specialist African type barber shops, Independent/
self-employed/ mobile/home-based settings, Product manufacturing and training, television and media, armed services or cruise liners.

Our Hair and Beauty courses enable you to work in a wide variety of salons, nail bars, spas, cruise ships, or even work abroad in luxury resorts. Depending on the level you choose to study, we recommend that you carry on climbing the ladder within Oaklands, and then onto university or into employment.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
