C&G Level 2 Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles for IT Professionals


This practical qualification will provide underpinning knowledge giving you specialist ICT skills, knowledge relating to PC building, upgrading and maintenance of IT systems and enabling you to progress into a career in ICT support.

Course Content - What will I learn?

This is a course which will develop the skills needed as an IT technician. The topics covered can include:

• Customer Support Provision
• Install and configure ICT equipment and operating systems
• Install, configure and test ICT networks
• Testing ICT systems
• Install and Configure and maintain software

Am I right for the course?

You should have completed a general education up to the age of 16. As this is a practical course you will have an interest in information technology and a career goal to work in the IT industry as a Support Technician or Network Engineer.

Three GCSEs at Grade 3 / D or above including Maths and English or a suitable Level 1 qualification with either Maths or English.

You will be assessed via a portfolio of your written and practical assignments. There will also be online testing to assess your key skills.

You will take a Maths or English qualification if you have not passed at grade 4 or above. You will either take a Functional Skills or GCSE in either English or Mathematics depending on your existing qualifications.

Oaklands College has a team of qualified ICT teachers. All are proficient in Microsoft software, as well as Networking, Programming and Hardware installation. Some have come from the ICT and Business industry and have a wealth of experience to share with you. They are supportive and motivational tutors who will do their best to make your time at Oaklands enjoyable, interesting and an excellent learning experience.

What Next?

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress to the Level 3 course or within employment and/or continue your study in a related vocational area.

Successful completion of your chosen course could lead onto a higher level course, university or into employment.
