Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Principles
Overview
This course is designed to offer you a solid continuation from Level 1 to the specialist role of Motor Vehicle Technician.
It will also allow you to develop the core skills you need to progress onto a related apprenticeship.
Course Content - What will I learn?
The course will cover the 12 units with 6 online examinations which includes practical tasks including:
• Maintenance within a workshop
• Remove test and refit a cylinder head
• Remove test and refit a coolant thermistor
• To remove/test, ignition coils and sparking plugs
• To remove an alternator/stator, test the systems and test a battery
• To test/remove lamp clusters
• To test steering and remove/refit a steering rack
• To test a suspension strut, remove and refit
• To maintain brakes: diagnose faults, remove, measure and refit
• To understand the drive and transmission components
You will also study Maths and English as part of your programme at the appropriate level for you.
Am I right for the course?
Suitable for candidates who wish to make a career in the motor vehicle industry
You must have a relevant Level 1 Diploma in Motor Vehicle or three GCSEs at Grade 4/C including Maths and English.
In order to pass each qualification, candidates must demonstrate its learning outcomes by following 3 assessment components, C&G Awards Practical Assessments,C&G Awards On-line External Testing and C&GI Awards Phase Tests. A minimum of 50 percent of each units learning outcomes must be achieved by the candidate completing practical activities in a workshop based environment.

What Next?
Progression and achievement can mean either continuing in further education on the level three programme or lead to employment

Our Motor Vehicle Maintenance courses are taught by experienced motor-trade professionals. They will give you the relevant skills to start a motor vehicle apprenticeship or begin work in the industry.

Fees
16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.
For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.
Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.
All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
