Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Treatments
Overview
This course is ideal if you are interested in pursuing a career in high-street salons and aesthetic clinics. This route enables learners to gain the required level of anatomy and physiology and facial skincare knowledge to progress to level 4 salon management including laser and advanced treatments or to go straight into industry with advanced training and knowledge of machines to enhance beauty therapy treatments.
The course has been designed to ensure that students leave college ready for employment, by developing and honing essential customer services skills, communication skills and retail techniques desired by employers.
The practical skills are taught in one of our four salons and practice is undertaken in a commercial salon on clients.
Course Content - What will I learn?
The following units are mandatory and must be completed to achieve the full qualification:
– Health and safety in the salon
– Client care and consultation
– Body analysis
– Skin analysis
– Swedish massage therapy
– Body electrical treatments
– Facial electrical treatments
– Electrical science
– Mechanical massage
– Anatomy and physiology for the face and body systems
Am I right for the course?
You need to have a keen interest in Anatomy and Physiology, enjoy analysing the clients skin and body concerns and providing a clear treatment plan.
You must enjoy provide excellent customer service and recommending products and services to meet the clients expectation.
To develop to high industry standards, you are required to run your own column in our oasis salon.
You will need to carry out at least 5 hours of independent study a week.
You must have successfully completed a Level 2 qualification in Beauty Therapy, and hold an ESOL level 2 if you do not have an English GCSE
Continual written and practical assessments over the year, to produce a portfolio of evidence to complete the qualification.
All courses in this area will have a mandatory kit and uniform. This is to be ordered at August enrolment.

The college is currently working with employers to support students to access essential work experience opportunities. This includes virtual speakers, employers giving talks on site or placements with employers. Additional off-site trips will be available and linked to course units. (Additional costs may occur)
Additional professional development alongside the could include product skills
You will need to receive all treatments as well as provide them to external clients in your salon sessions from the beginning of term 1.
Clients are provided through the Oasis salon, however, you may find that in order to complete an assessment you may need to provide your own clients.
You will need to carry out minimum of 30 hours of work experience within the beauty industry or in a related customer service role.
We have strong partnerships with many employers, such as Ragdale Hall, Sopwell House, Hanbury Manor, Gosling, Champneys Day SpaÂ’s, and many more and you are provided the opportunity to explore these different spas and salons through work experience, trips and talks from industry.
You will be provided with the opportunity to carry out additional enrichment courses to give you the edge when going for your dream job.
Your course is planned over 2-3 days per week. However, timetable are subject to change with notice provide, due to salon timetables.
You may be required to attend additional days for final assessment and external exams.
Your tutors and assessors will have a minimum of five years industry experience supporting your learning and assessment targets and plans.

How will I bbe assessed
The TLQ requires each student to have an employer observe and feedback on one assessment, ether formative or a graded practical assessment and will provide feedback to the students straight from the standards that industry requires.
Your final grade can be awarded as a pass, merit or distinction
What Next?
On completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Treatments students can progress onto one of the following courses:
• Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapy (TLQ)
• Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical and Media Studies (TLQ)
• Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Treatments
• NVQ level 2 in Hairdressing as an Apprentice
• Employment
Where could you work?
These skills will enable you to work in a wide variety of salons, spa’s, cruise ships, or work abroad in luxury resorts, or, set up as a mobile therapist or your own salon.
Our Hair and Beauty courses enable you to work in a wide variety of salons, nail bars, spas, cruise ships, or even work abroad in luxury resorts. Depending on the level you choose to study, we recommend that you carry on climbing the ladder within Oaklands, and then onto university or into employment.

Fees
16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.
For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.
Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.
All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
