L3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies Techniques

Overview

Throughout this one year course you will be required to cover and achieve a range of units which will be delivered holistically to ensure that you become a competent Complementary Therapist. All units will be assessed using a variety of techniques, this will include written projects, online assessments, case studies, multiple choice exams and practical assessments. You will be required to perfom treatments on paying clients and attend external events in order to complete your treatment portfolio.

Course Content - What will I learn?

You will study a range of units including: Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology, Reflexology, Body Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflective Practice, Principles and Practices, Health and Safety, Business amnd Healthy Eating. The units are subject to change.

Am I right for the course?

You are right for this course if you have an interest in how complementary therapies can help promote health and wellbeing and improve the symptoms of certain physical and emotional conditions. You will need to be organised, committed and willing to work independently as well as part of a group, as the course is both rigorous and demanding in an academic and practical sense.

You need to have good communication skills, a mature attitude and a keen interest in promoting good health & stress management to your clients.

If you think this suits you, then you will find the course interesting, stimulating, challenging and very rewarding.

You will need four GCSEs at grade C or above or Level 2 Beauty Therapy or Compementary Therapies qualification. If you are a mature student without the above qualifications then this can be discussed on an individual basis at the interview.

You will be assessed through graded practical observations, external written exams and written assignments. You will also be required to create a treatment portfolio to include practical treatment plans and case studies.

A variety of qualified and experienced professionals will deliver the programme, each bringing specialist knowledge and experience to the units that you will study.

What Next?

You can further your education by progressing onto a Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Complementary Therapies. Whilst the primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare you for employment, you may choose to develop your knowledge and skills further by completing a specialist qualification at Level 4 in one or more of the following areas: Salon management, REiki, Shiatsu, Alexander Technique, Yoga therapy, Craniosacral therapy.

Employment opportunities could be withon the following: Commercial salons, spas, massageclinics, independent/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings, National Health Service, cruise liners, care homes, product manufacturing and training.

Our Hair and Beauty courses enable you to work in a wide variety of salons, nail bars, spas, cruise ships, or even work abroad in luxury resorts. Depending on the level you choose to study, we recommend that you carry on climbing the ladder within Oaklands, and then onto university or into employment.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
