Overview

The course will give you the relevant skills for games development so you can enter a career in the gaming industry. You will develop knowledge of the computer games industry, the processes, the variety of roles within the industry and a broad range of skills.

The course is mix of theory and practical projects and will cover elements including: Computer and web animation
Digital Graphics, Developing Computer Games, Computer Games story development, Understanding the computer games industry, Research and Communication techniques for the media/technology industries.

You will complete the L3 Diploma in the first year, progressing onto the Extended Diploma in the second year.

Course Content - What will I learn?

Throughout the course, students will be working towards live briefs on projects and getting a real insight to the industry by working with industry experts, this will give our students all the skills needed in order to succeed within the games development field.

Areas of study include: Creating computer games using industry standard software, Studying the history of computer games, Developing your research, writing and academic skills, Building skills in order to design characters, props and environments by hand or digitally, Recording and designing sound effects, Designing a board game, Studying the games design industry, Making a games design CV and portfolio website.

What Next?

On successsful completion you could progress to degree level studies in a related field such as Media Production or Computer Animation. Alternatively, with a suitable portfolio of work, you could gain a junior level position in games design or animation.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
