Overview
This course provides a wide-ranging opportunity to apply and expand your skills in the performing arts. Across two years and eighteen units you will study acting, dance and singing and make use of the skills you develop in a series of exciting large-scale public performances (at least one a term). You will work from scripts as well as devising your own performances. The course is an exciting journey fusing song, dance, acting and your imagination in a celebration of your potential and the diversity of talent in your company.
Course Content - What will I learn?
The emphasis is on working as a professional theatre company. You will take responsibility for all aspects of your performances including costume, make-up, lighting and sound. You will perform to a variety of audiences both in college and outside.
On the academic side you need to explore and grasp the theory behind your practical work to find out how to use your practical skills in the real world. You will study Performing Arts in Historical Context so you can measure your own developing work against the rich backdrop of all that has gone before.
Am I right for the course?
Overall, the course is perfect for anyone with proven skills in the Performing Arts and a burning desire to get better at it.
A minimum of 4 GCSEs grade 9 – 4 including maths and English or a full Level 2 with a merit profile and grades 9 – 4 in English & maths.
Assessment is Project-Led, each project will begin with an assignment that lays out precisely what you need to do in terms of practical work, research and reflection to achieve success. This means that as well as being assessed practically you will also carry out research work and create journals and evaluations of your practical work so that your thought processes and developing critical skills can also be assessed.
For students that do not already haveGrade 4 / C or above in GCSE English or maths will study either Functional skills or GCSE depending on their grade as part of their study programme
The course team consists of experienced performers who are also expert teachers. Each has professional experience in their respective fields; dance, drama and singing.
What Next?
The qualification can lead to Higher Education in a specialist dance or drama school or at university; or directly to employment in the industry.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.
For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.
Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.
All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
