AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting, September Start, One Evening Per Week, Blended Learning, 54 Weeks

Overview

This qualification covers complex accounting and finance topics and tasks leading to students becoming confident with a wide range of financial management skills and applications. Students will gain competencies in drafting financial statements for limited companies, recommending accounting systems strategies and constructing and presenting complex management accounting reports.

This flexible course is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education, and combines online learning with face-to-face lessons in the classroom.

Study the Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting to master complex accounting tasks and qualify for senior finance roles, as well as AAT full membership.

Course Content - What will I learn?

This qualification comprises three mandatory units and two specialist units selected from a choice of five options.

The mandatory units are:
Applied Management Accounting
Drafting and Interpreting Financial Statements
Internal Accounting Systems and Controls.

The optional units we offer are:
Personal Tax
Credit and Debt Management

9. Understand the role and responsibilities of the accounting function within an organisation
10. Evaluate internal control systems
11. Evaluate an organisationÂ’s accounting system and underpinning procedures
12. Understand the impact of technology on accounting systems
13. Recommend improvements to an organisationÂ’s accounting system
14. Understand principles and rules that underpin taxation systems
15. Calculate UK taxpayersÂ’ total income
16. Calculate income tax and National Insurance contributions (NICs) payable by UK taxpayers
17. Calculate capital gains tax payable by UK taxpayers
18. Understand the principles of inheritance tax
19. Understand relevant legislation and contract law that impacts the credit control environment
20. Understand how information is used to assess credit risk and grant credit in compliance with organisational policies and procedures
21. Understand the organisationÂ’s credit control processes for managing and collecting debts
22. Understand different techniques available to collect debts

Am I right for the course?

Study Method: Online and On Campus

We have partnered with Mindful Education to deliver this course through our flexible Online and On Campus model.

Online, you will study award-winning video lessons, which are available on demand, and can be viewed from your phone, tablet or computer – meaning you can choose how, when and where you want to study. Lessons last for around 45 minutes and are accompanied by animations and motion graphics to bring concepts to life. Practice questions, downloadable lesson materials and interactive case studies help to enhance the learning experience further and learners should expect to spend around 6-7 hours studying independently online each week.

On campus, you benefit from regular classes with a college tutor – without having to commit to attending multiple evenings each week. Your tutor will review what you have learnt during your online lessons and will be on hand to provide guidance on progress and assessment. Regular discussion with classmates will help to reinforce key points while also providing the additional support and motivation that comes from being part of a group.

It is required that you have minimum numeracy and literacy skills at Level 2. You need to prove that you have passed the AAT Accounting qualification at level 3 or equivalent. You can test your knowledge at https://www.aat.org.uk/qualifications-and-courses/skill check

When you’re studying for an AAT qualification your knowledge and skills will be tested via computer-based assessments (CBAs). These are administered by AAT Approved training providers or assessment centres and run entirely on PCs or laptops.

All assessments are marked by AAT and the result is usually available within six weeks time from the date of the exam.

Oaklands College is an approved training provider.

Blended Learning in partnership with Mindful Education. Pre-recorded lessons with a weekly face-to-face session at St Albans Campus.

The course start date is 04/09/23.
Weekly college classes will be held every Monday.

Oaklands College will deliver this course in partnership with Mindful Education. Mindful Education will provide pre-recorded Videos for lessons followed by a weekly face-to-face session at the St.Albans campus. Face to Face sessions are run by fully qualified staff members.

If you successfully complete this qualification you can apply for AAT full membership (MAAT), and if you’re thinking of starting your own practice you’ll be able to apply to become an AAT Licensed Accountant or Bookkeeper.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
