Overview

This is an advanced qualification that has been specifically designed for existing or aspiring salon managers and aesthetic skin therapists. Oasis at Oaklands is our commercial salon that provides students with the opportunity to gain first hand experience of working in an operational Skin and Hair Clinic.

Course Content - What will I learn?

Mandatory units to the course:

Physiology of ageing,
Apply micro dermabrasion
Laser and light treatments for hair removal
Laser and light treatments for skin rejuvenation
Management of health, safety and security in the salon
Quality management of client care in the hair and beauty sector
Salon management
Marketing in the hair and beauty sector
PR

You will also have the opportunity to increase your aesthetic knowledge by also completing insurable additional courses. (Some may include a small fee)
Advance Skin Blemish Removal (Skin Tags, Milia Blood Spots and telangiectasia) Epiderma 1.5mm Derma Rolling (Roller and Pen Technique), Skin Peels, Mesotherapy and Skin Derma Planning

Am I right for the course?

Key skills and personal qualities required including excellent time keeping to ensure that you keep to your schedule for the day. A friendly and approachable manner to deal with a variety of clients, so they are greeted by a friendly therapist who they feel comfortable and at ease with. Confidence is a key attribute. You will be providing medical aesthetic treatments and although they are all non-surgical, you will be using products and machines that need to be used with care and used appropriately. Clients need to see and feel that you have confidence when talking about and providing treatments and services. This will then give clients confidence in you as their therapist and this will allow them to put their trust in you.

Entry requirements All students must have English and Maths in a minimum Grade 4 and full Level 3 in vocational area.

Purchase of a kits and uniform from the College (Approx £150.00). Oasis at Oaklands is our commercial salon that provides students with the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of working in an operational Skin and Hair Clinic. You will be attending college up to 18 hours per week this will include an evening session to reflect your future industry experience. Additionally you will be required to complete up to 6 hours per week home study. You will also complete clinic work experience, which may not include your normal college days. Students will also be given enrichment opportunities, taken on trips and encouraged to support businesses and groups in the community

What Next?

Following successful completion of this course, students can enter employment as Aesthetic Therapist, Doctor/Nurse Assistant, ILP/Laser Technician, Hair Removal Therapist, Hair Loss Therapist (alopecia clinic), Clinic/Salon/Spa Manager, Trainer, Lecturer, Field Sales Representative, Treatment Co-ordinator, Product Researching.

Our Hair and Beauty courses enable you to work in a wide variety of salons, nail bars, spas, cruise ships, or even work abroad in luxury resorts. Depending on the level you choose to study, we recommend that you carry on climbing the ladder within Oaklands, and then onto university or into employment.

Fees

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
