Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Marketing – St Albans

Overview

Marketing is an ever-changing and fast-paced industry and this qualification will help you learn, grow and apply skills and experience suitable for the modern-day marketer that help deliver leads, drive sales and increase engagement across multiple platforms both digitally and offline.

The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Marketing is a 2 year qualification that is equivalent in size to three A Levels. The qualification is aimed at learners who are looking to progress to employment in the sector and whose aspirations may also be to enter higher education.

The qualification is mapped to the CIM Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Professional Marketing and the CIM Level 3 Foundation Certification in Professional Digital Marketing, thereby extending the range of employment opportunities available.

Course Content - What will I learn?

Completing a BTEC in Marketing will equip you with skills and knowledge around digital marketing, marketing principles, marketing events, customer communications, marketing regulations, creating customer loyalty, influencer marketing, market research and more. Mandatory Units: Careers in Marketing, Marketing Principles, Customer Communications, Applying Digital Marketing, Branding Products and Services, Generating Customer Loyalty and Marketing an Event.

Optional units may include: Customer Immersion Experiences, Activating a Brand, Work Experience in Marketing, Influencer Marketing, Marketing Research for a Start-up Business and Corporate Social Responsibility.

The course is designed to develop a range of transferable skills that will provide a platform for you to progress into employment or Higher Education. The intention is that you will leave the college, not only having achieved your vocational qualification, but having also developed confidence in communicating and presenting information professionally to peer groups, able to manage workloads and meet challenging deadlines and build up knowledge and skill when using various ICT packages that will be essential within the workplace.

Am I right for the course?

The study programme is intended for students who seek to pursue a career in all areas of marketing and provides students with the UCAS points needed to access Higher Education.

A minimum of 4 GCSEs grade 9 – 4 including maths and English or a full Level 2 with a merit profile and grades 9 – 4 in English & maths.

All students at Oaklands College take part in an initial assessment in Maths and English which helps us ensure that all learners are studying at the appropriate level. Throughout the course you will be continually assessed using a wide variety of practical and written assignments, which will test your knowledge and are used as evidence of achievment.

Alongside your course youÂ’ll study English and maths at the level appropriate to you and take part in work placements to develop your skills and confidence.

The course is delivered by experienced staff that have worked in a wide range of relevant areas and they draw upon this experience to ensure that the curriculum is engaging, relevant and contextualised.

Careers in marketing are wide and varied, from digital marketing to direct sales, research to events. There are almost 200,000 workers across the UK working in advertising and marketing, with many going down a self-employed route after gathering plenty of real-world experience. Many universities offer marketing degrees, either full-time or as part of a mixed degree and the UCAS tariff points awarded on this course enable you to apply.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
