ESOL Skills for Life St Albans – Evening (19+ Only)

course

Overview

We offer classes from Entry 1 to Level 2 on Monday-Wednesday or Tuesday-Thursday. Please check at your assessment for the timetable. You will study for Trinity ESOL Skills for Life Awards in Speaking and Listening, Reading, and Writing depending on your progress. You will study grammar and vocabulary appropriate to your level. You will practise reading and writing appropriate to your level.

Entry 1 and 2 students will complete an employability portfolio in the Autumn term.

Am I right for the course?

This course is for speakers of English as a second language who live and work in the UK. Classes are twice a week. You must be able to attend both classes.

You will have a test to see your level.

The courses are part funded by the government so you will need to pay fees.

You may be entitled to free courses if you are unemployed, looking for work, and on a recognised benefit. Please ask about this if you are not sure.

If you have not been an EU resident for 3 years, you may have to pay international fees.

It may be possible for you to start later in the year if you are not a complete Beginner.

Students will do a test to check their level or you can present your certificates from another college if you have taken them in the last 2 years.

During the year you will take formal exams in Speaking and Listening, Reading, and Writing. These are accredited by Trinity College London. Your teacher will decide if you are ready to take the exams. The teacher’s decision is final.

You will be taught be experienced and qualified ESOL tutors.

What Next?

Students at Entry 1, 2 and 3 usually progress to the next level. Students who pass L1 and 2 may consider Functional Skills or GCSE. The college Advice and Guidance staff can help with regard to continuing on vocational subjects at the college.

Fees

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
