Whether you are planning to enter business management or a financial path completing a BTEC in Business will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed.

Careers in Business and Finance are wide and varied, from accountancy to financial planners to analyst. Jobs in the business and financial sector can be well-paid, which explains why they’re in such great demand. Many universities offer Business and Finance degrees which can be 3 or 4 years and the UCAS tariff points awarded on this course will enable you to apply.

Course Content - What will I learn?

The units within the Business and Finance course have been selected to provide you with a holistic view of the world of business but with a focus on finance. Some of the units that you will be taught include:

– Personal & Business Finance
– Developing a Marketing Campaign
– Managing an Event
– Effective Management of Debt
– Exploring Business

Am I right for the course?

There is potential for the qualification to prepare students for employment in the appropriate vocational sector and it is suitable for those who have decided that they wish to enter a particular area of work. The Extended Diploma is broadly equivalent to three A Levels.

4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including Maths and English or a Level 2 qualification in business or a related vocational area.

All students at Oaklands College take part in an initial assessment in Maths and English which helps us ensure that all learners are studying at the appropriate level. Throughout the course you will be continually assessed using a wide variety of practical and written assignments, which will test your knowledge and are used as evidence of achievment.

Alongside your course you’ll study English and maths at the level appropriate to you and take part in work placements to develop your skills and confidence.

The course is delivered by experienced staff that have worked in a wide range of relevant areas and they draw upon this experience to ensure that the curriculum is engaging, relevant and contextualised.

What Next?

Completing a BTEC in Business will equip you with the skills and knowledge around a range of careers within the financial & business sector such as book-keeping, management principles, business and personal finance and budgeting. Business students who have completed their qualification at Oaklands College have moved into a wide variety of sectors, some recent examples include:

Finance: Accounting, Finance Managers, Payroll, Mortgage adviser, Stock Broker

Other careers include Project Management, Business Development Manager and Systems & Data Analysist.

A high percentage of our students progress to university and typical degree subjects pursued include; BA (Hons) Accounting, BA (Hons) Business Economics, BA (Hons) Finance & Economics, BA (Hons) International Business

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
