Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Esports

Overview

The Esports Industry has been identified as one of the fastest-growing global industries in recent years. This qualification offers a unique opportunity to study a sector that crosses over multiple subject areas such as sport, marketing, enterprise, IT and the creatives. It provides an opportunity for alignment of social, physical, mental and financial skills into one qualification to deepen and expand learning.

The BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Esports is initially a 1-year qualification that is equivalent in size to 1.5 A Levels. Successful completion will allow progression onto the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Esports which is a further years study and will give you the equivalent of 3 A Levels.

The qualification is endorsed by the British Esports Association as being suitable for students who want to work in the industry. This means that it will be recognised by employers and will support entry into the industry in a range of roles.

Course Content - What will I learn?

Mandatory Units: Introduction to Esports, Esports Skills, Strategies and Analysis, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in the Esports Industry, Health, Wellbeing and Fitness for Esports Players.

Plus a range of optional units that can include some of the following: Esports Events, Live-streamed Broadcasting, Producing an Esports Brand, Launching Your Esports Enterprise, Business Applications of Esports in Social Media & Customer Immersion Experiences.

Am I right for the course?

The study programme is intended for students who wish to seek a career in the Esports industry.

4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including Maths and English and ideally ICT or a Level 2 qualification in a reelvant vocational area.

Throughout the course you will be continually assessed using a wide variety of practical and written assignments, which will test your knowledge and are used as evidence of achievment.

The department works closely with existing and new external college partner organisations to provide students with relevant and current contextual insight into the industry. As part of the study programme you will be supported in locating and carrying out work experience that links to your intented career destination. Opportuities for trips to relevant organisations and events along with guest speakers will be planned throughout the year in order to being the curriculum to life.

What Next?

The primary focus of the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Esports is on progressing to employment across a range of roles within Esports. Jobs that are available in these areas include event organiser, data analyst, Esports player & video production editor. The qualification attracts UCAS Tariff points and is recognised by higher education providers as contributing to entry requirements for many related courses such as BA (Hons) in Events Management, a BA (Hons) in Media or a BA (Hons) in Esports, as well as accessing other higher education programmes.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
