Level 3 National Foundation Diploma / Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching & Development

Overview

This is a career-focused qualification with industry endorsement and accreditation. You will study the L3 National Foundation Diploma in the first year with the option to progress to the L3 Extended Diploma in the second year.

It enables learners to develop underpinning knowledge and technical skills and to gain experience as a coach. It is endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), which has confirmed that the qualification is fully mapped to its professional standards of CIMSPA ‘Coach’ and ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children’. CIMSPA’s endorsement of this qualification allows learners to apply for CIMSPA membership after successfully completing this programme, and is therefore recognised by employers as enabling learners to enter employment in the job role of a coach in the sports sector.

What Next?

This qualification focuses primarily on progression to employment as a coach. The extension, breadth and depth of optional units in this qualification give you employment opportunities for working with participants of all ages, from children in primary and secondary schools, to adults of all ages. Possible job roles include community coach, sport-specific school coach, sport-specific after-school coach and weekend multi-sports holiday coach. You will also have the skills and expertise to work with beginners up to high-level performers.You will be able to work in the role of club sports coach, progressing to working with elite performers and in sport-development programmes in manycapacities.

Successful completion also gives you the opportunity to progress to further study in higher education. Holding UCAS Tariff points, it is recognised by higher-education providers as meeting entry requirements for many related degree programmes, such as a BA (Hons) in Sports Coaching and Development and a BA (Hons) in Sports Management.

Our Sports courses will help you get to the ceiling of your ability and this could be Regional, National or even International level competition. You could also progress to University or into direct employment.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
