Level 3 National Foundation Diploma / Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching & Development
This is a two year programme. In the first year you will complete the National Foundation Diploma and gain the sport leaders qualification. In the second year you will complete the Extended Diploma alongside the qualification for Multi skilled sports Coach. This qualification has been developed in consultation with employers and professional bodies which ensures that it is appropriate and consistent with current industry practice to enable learners to enter direct employment . It also allows for progression to higher education study. The qualification provides the knowledge and develops the skills and application required for professional accreditation with the Chartered Institute of Management for Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

Am I right for the course?
This course may be right for you if you have a strong interest in understanding and exploring Sport Coaching and the development of sport. It will provide you with the theory, practical and delivery as a Sports coach, whilst exploring the development of Sport. This course is also right for you if you have a desire to become a Sports Coach, work with others whilst encouraging them to take part in physical activity and look at ways to develop Sport. You should be enthusiastic and ready to take initiative in order to achieve your full potential.
Four GCSEs at Grade 4 / C or above and must include English and maths.
The course is 100% internally assessed through written assignments, presentations, videos, case studies and projects. This course is highly practical, progression focused and it includes the practical assessment of your competence as a multi skills Coach.
During the course, there may be opportunities to achieve other qualifications in addition to your main programme. You will have the opportunity to develop independent study skills as well as employability skills and transferrable skills which will support your progress to higher education or employment. These additional qualifications may include drug awareness, first-aid, sport-specific coaching badges and other sport-related qualifications.
The sports department at Oaklands College boasts an experienced, dedicated and knowledgeable team. All tutors delivering on the programme have extensive subject knowledge in sports coaching & sport & exercise sciences. Many tutors have competed or still compete in a variety of sports at a high level .
This qualification is designed to support direct entry to employment in the fitness industry as a fitness instructor at gyms and health clubs and as a personal trainer either at a gym, health club or self-employed. It also supports further study at University. This course, based on it’s practical elements, will give you an advantage in applying for Higher Apprenticeships in areas such as sport and fitness training.
Our Sports courses will help you get to the ceiling of your ability and this could be Regional, National or even International level competition. You could also progress to University or into direct employment.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.
For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.
Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.
All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
