Level 1 Extended certificate in Carpentry & Joinery

Overview

The Level 1 qualification will provide you with a range of carpentry and joinery skills and knowledge. You will also develop an understanding of the health and safety requirements for working in the construction industry.

Course Content - What will I learn?

You will need to achieve an on-line multiple choice L1 Health & Safety in construction exam which is the prerequisite for the CSCS exam.

Employment in the Construction Industry

Am I right for the course?

Having completed your secondary education or a Multi-Trades Level 1 course, The Level 1 Diploma Carpentry & Joinery is your natural progression. This course will help you to take your first steps in the direction of employment into the construction industry.

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 – 1 or successful completion of an Entry Level programme.

You will be assessed by successfully completing both practical & theory tasks as well achieving the L1 Health, Safety & environment on line multiple choice exam (CSCS prerequisite).

You will be required to have a minimum of grade 2 GCSE in both maths & English. You will also be required to continue with Maths & English lessons as a compulsory part of the programme.

You will be taught by trade professionals who have spent many years working in the construction industry.

What Next?

On completion of the level 1 extended diploma you should be able to progress onto the new L2 Carpentry technical qualification.

Many carpenters and joiners are self-employed. You could also find work with large construction companies, local authorities, shopfitting firms, or in set-building for theatre and television.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
