Overview

The course consists of units are devised by VTCT. The units involve theory, practical and home study.

Course Content - What will I learn?

During the course you will learn about the exciting and creative Hair and Beauty industry. Practical assessments will take place whilst you are treating clients, you will also undergo written tests, complete assignments and compile a portfolio of work, including observations.

Am I right for the course?

This course is for you if you have a genuine interest in the Hair and Beauty industry, good interpersonal skills and the ability to demonstrate a willing, professional and mature attitude and would like to progress on to level 2 Beauty Therapy.

A recent reference is required and you will need to attend an interview with evidence of 3 GSCE’s at E or above.

You will be assessed when treating clients. Written tests, assignments and observations will be referenced in a portfolio of evidence.

You will need to receive all treatments as well as provide them to external clients and on peers. Clients are provided through the Oasis salon. Timetables are subject to change. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE A UNIFORM AND KIT THROUGH THE COLLEGE (COST approx 250.00)

Your teachers and assessors will have a minimum of five years industry experience supporting your learning and assessment targets and plans. You will be supported by an internal verifier throughout the assessment process.

What Next?

Progression onto Level 2 in Beauty, Media Make up, Complementary Therapy or Nails is available. Information on short courses are in the part time prospectus.

Our Hair and Beauty courses enable you to work in a wide variety of salons, nail bars, spas, cruise ships, or even work abroad in luxury resorts. Depending on the level you choose to study, we recommend that you carry on climbing the ladder within Oaklands, and then onto university or into employment.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
