Level 1 Diploma in Hair and Beauty
Overview
This hands-on course includes all the elements required to develop your practical beauty skills and prepare you for further study at Level 2 or an apprenticeship.
Course Content - What will I learn?
This course will support you in developing skills within Hair and Beauty but also in improving your literacy, numeracy and digital skills.
Student yet to achieve a grade 4 or above in GCSE English and maths will study either a Functional Skill or GCSE as part of their study programme
Am I right for the course?
A strong interest in the hair and beauty sector and with some experience being an advantage although not essential
Must be working at least Entry 3 in maths and English. Preferably at least 1 GCSE either a grade 1 in maths or English (ESOL E3)
To gain the level 1 in Hair & Beauty students must undertake a range of assessments. The majority of these are practical, but the course does include some written assessment. Assessment is ongoing and assessment work is undertaken primarily during college time.
What Next?
On successful completion of the Level 1, you can progress in the subject area of Hair and Beauty in Level 2 Hair, Level 2 Beauty or Level 2 Media Make Up or other courses at the College
Our Hair and Beauty courses enable you to work in a wide variety of salons, nail bars, spas, cruise ships, or even work abroad in luxury resorts. Depending on the level you choose to study, we recommend that you carry on climbing the ladder within Oaklands, and then onto university or into employment.

Fees
16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.
For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.
Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.
All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
