Overview

This new course is aimed at Adults (19+) who are interested in exploring a range of printmaking techniques along with papermaking and book-making. The course will run on Mondays (09.30 – 15.00) over 25 weeks (term time only) starting 25th September 2023 and ending 3rd June 2024.
Your tutor will provide you with supportive and encouraging feedback throughout the course. You will keep a record of your own progress and achievements by, for example, photographing your outcomes and reflecting on what you have learnt.

This course is part-funded and the total fee for the year is £360 for adults aged 24+.
The course is free for those aged 24+ who are unemployed and on benefit or for those in employment on a low income. Students aged 19-23 should check with Admissions re Fee remission.

Course Content - What will I learn?

You will explore a range of printmaking techniques as well as having the opportunity to make your own paper and artists’ books. You will be introduced to the work of contemporary practitioners to inspire and inform your own creative ideas.
All processes will be demonstrated and you will be guided and supported throughout the course by your tutor.

Am I right for the course?

If you like the idea of spending one day a week exploring a range of print techniques along with papermaking and book-making, you will enjoy the opportunities to develop your skills in this new course. All techniques will be taught from scratch so the course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some previous experience.
The course is part-funded and the total fee for the year is £360 for adults aged 24+.

No previous experience required.

Continuous Classroom assessment will take place based on Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement. Your tutor will observe your progress during the course and provide you with supportive and encouraging feedback. You will be expected to keep a record of your own progress and achievements by, for example, photographing your outcomes and reflecting on what you have learnt. Your tutor will support and guide you through this.

All materials and equipment necessary to participate and complete the course will be provided. Should you choose to work with more expensive or large quantities of materials (eg silk instead of cotton), a materials fee will be charged.

Course Dates: 25/09/23 – 11/12/23 (Two-week half term: 23/10/23 & 30/10/23)
8/01/24 – 18/3/24 (Two-week half term: 12/2/24 & 19/2/24)
15/04/24 – 3/6/24 (No lesson BH Monday 6/5/24 and One-week half term: 27/5/24)

You will be taught by a skilled teacher who has a relevant Arts Degree and a post-graduate Teaching Diploma. Your teacher will encourage and support you to enjoy and achieve throughout the course.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
