A2 Level Chemistry (AQA)

There are two theory modules in both years :
In AS: ‘Atoms, Bonds and Groups’ and ‘Chains, Atoms and Resources’.
In A2: ‘Rings, Polymers and Analysis’ and ‘Equilibria, Energetics and Elements.’
In addition Practical skills in Chemistry 1 (AS) and 2 (A2): You will be assessed through the year in a series of practical tasks. Qualitative, Quantitative and Evaluative. We plan to offer more than one task in most areas and the best mark counts towards your AS and A2 examination mark, respectively.
‘Rings, Polymers and Analysis’ builds upon the chemical concepts that have been developed during AS Chemistry and involves organic chemistry, including polymers and synthesis as well as analytical techniques.

Experienced Worker Route – Bricklaying

This qualification is solely for experienced Bricklayers who have no formal qualifications. This NVQ Level 2 may be for you. No site assessments are required, just a profiling session, some evidence gathering by you and then a practical test to confirm your competence. On successful completion you will be able to apply for a blue skilled worker CSCS card test and gain you access to site as a Bricklayer.

Through working with the team at The Pioneer Club to support the organisation of events as well as the day to day running of the café, shop, music studio and skatepark you will enhance skills that will help you develop professionalism and self-confidence

As well as working at Pioneer you will attend classes at college. These classes are important as they are part of the course and your study program. You will not be allowed to attend sessions at Pioneer if you do not attend your college classes and you cannot pass this qualification unless you complete the core units that are taught at these sessions

Signature Level 1 Award in British Sign Language: 18:45-20:45 [Sept Start – Register Your Interest]

To achieve the Level 1 Award you need to pass all 3 units. Our course also aims to raise awareness of the differences between cultures based on signed and spoken languages. To provide background information about deaf issues including Deaf Awareness training and Deaf Culture. BSL unit 101 (20 hours) is an introduction to BSL in situations including: meeting people, using numbers, the weather and transport directions. BSL unit 102 (22 hours) is focused on conversational BSL in these situations: At home, people, animals & objects, using numbers, everyday interests & activities and the weather.Finally BSL unit 103 (22 hours) focuses on BSL at School, College or Work including: getting around, exchanging information, refreshments and using numbers at School, College or Work.
