T Level in Education and Childcare


This course is suitable for anyone wanting a career in early years education, childcare or assisting teaching.

This course includes 21 weeks of on-the job training to give you first hand experience of working with young people.

Course Content - What will I learn?

Education is all about expanding what you know to broaden your understanding and skills. You’ll get to grips with a wide range of topics including;

The education and childcare sector from ages 0 to 5
Child development
How to support children and young people’s education
Safeguarding, health and safety and wellbeing
Understanding and managing behaviour
Observing and assessing children and young people
Equality and diversity
Special educational needs and disability
Working with parents, carers and wider families
Working with agencies and services that support children, families and carer

Am I right for the course?

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 and above which must include English & Maths at a minimum of Grade 4.

A minimum of 5 GCSE’s at Grade 5 – 9 (including English, Maths and Science). A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).

What Next?

Students can progress into roles such as: Nursery worker, Teaching assistant, Learning mentor, Special educational needs teaching assistant, Playworker, Portage home visitor and many more.

Students can also use this T-level to do a related higher-level apprenticeship or degree course at university.
