Experienced Worker Route – Bricklaying



This qualification is solely for experienced Bricklayers who have no formal qualifications. This NVQ Level 2 may be for you. No site assessments are required, just a profiling session, some evidence gathering by you and then a practical test to confirm your competence. On successful completion you will be able to apply for a blue skilled worker CSCS card test and gain you access to site as a Bricklayer.

Course Content - What will I learn?

The Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA) route is designed specifically for workers who have extensive experience in the relevant occupation.

The assessment will be based on five contributing items:

1 .Witness testimony (for each unit)
2 .Employer endorsement
3. Practical assessment
4 .Professional discussion (one-to-one discussion with an assessor)
5. Knowledge questioning (one-to-one questioning by the assessor)


Am I right for the course?

This route is available for workers with a minimum of five years bricklaying experience and who do not need any further bricklaying training.

Evidence and a professional discussion focussing on the following will form part of the assessment as well as a practical assessment in our bricklaying workshops.

QCF642 Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
QCF643 Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace
Unit40v3 Erecting Masonry Structures in the Workplace
Unit41v3 Setting Out to form Masonry Structures in the Workplace

Optional units (1 unit required from the following)
• Erecting Masonry Cladding in the Workplace
• Erecting Thin Joint Masonry Structures in the
• Workplace
• Repairing and Maintaining Masonry Structures in
• the Workplace
• Installing Drainage in the Workplace
• Installing and forming specialist masonry elements
• Placing and compacting concrete in the workplace

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
