We offer courses across a wide range of subject areas, both academic and vocational. The majority of our HE courses are available on a full-time and part-time basis and the course content provided in the full-time course information also applies to the part-time course.

Accommodation

Students holding offers on extended and foundation degrees only are able to apply for accommodation at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield via: www.herts.ac.uk/university-life/accommodation.

Applications must be made online. Rooms will be allocated depending on availability and the deposit being paid on time. Applicants will automatically receive information regarding how to apply when they reach the correct UCAS stage.

Full-Time

For full-time Foundation Degree courses please apply through UCAS. You will need to use the UCAS code provided and our institution code HERTS H36, plus the campus code O (Oaklands College).
For full time HNC/Ds please apply through UCAS. You will need to use the UCAS code provided and our institution code O12.

Part-Time

If you would like to study with us part-time, please apply through Oaklands College or the University of Hertfordshire. For HNC/HND please apply through Oaklands College, Foundation Degree applications must be made on the standard university application form with the University of Hertfordshire.

HNC / HND

A Higher National Certificate/Diploma can be achieved in two years and can provide progression to the second year of a BA or BSc Honours Degree.

The HND in Performing Arts provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the performing arts sector and also offers particular specialist emphasis through the choice of specialist units. Students study the HND over two years of which an HNC is the first year.

All Engineering degree schemes at the University of Hertfordshire fulfil the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer status. Including the Initial year in your course, you can complete your degree studies in four years full time or five years sandwich including integrated industrial training. On entry, you select the degree scheme most appropriate to you. On completion your choice is reviewed. The modules studied include engineering studies and skills, mathematics, engineering science, computers and applications to engineering, mechanical science, electrical science and electronics and engineering project.

The Higher National Certificate (HNC) is a one year course at level 4 which is the equivalent to the first year at university. The course leads to the Higher National Diploma (HND) in the second year. This programme is designed to provide highly relevant, specialised studies utilising industry standard equipment and vocational expertise that will prepare you for a range of potential careers within the Music and Music Technology field. You'll study a range of modules covering practical Music making and Music Technology and underlying the theoretical concepts, as well as developing skills in communication and broader academic study.

Foundation Degrees

This is a nationally-recognised degree qualification in its own right, and can also lead onto the final year of an Honours Degree programme.

You could progress to a related BSc degree or start a career with animal charity organisations, service providers like animal boarding establishments, local authorities or government agencies and animal collections. If you're already working in the industry, you'll be well prepared for more senior/alternative roles. View course

This two-year programme is designed to provide the essential skills, knowledge and understanding of business which will enable students to enter employment and/or progress to an honours top-up in Business disciplines. The programme offers an education in general business and management which puts emphasis on personal development and employability. View course

This two-year programme is designed to develop your understanding of the role and use of accounting within business and business decision making. You will cover accounting techniques and explore how to prepare financial statements for different types of business enterprise. Additionally, it will develop your understanding of the role of business in society and develop knowledge of the main functional areas; marketing and human resources. View course

This two-year programme is designed to give you the skills, knowledge and expertise necessary to enter a career Law. Additionally, it will develop your understanding of the role of business in society and develop knowledge of the main functional areas; accounting, marketing and human resources. View course

You will study the principles of marketing and marketing communications as well as developing an strategic awareness of how marketers develop products and services to build a superior value proposition. You will also examine how decisions are made and how they impact the organisation. You will also be able to work on a work based learning project, giving you hands-on experience. View course

You will develop an understanding of how to manage different events within different areas, such as sports, tourism, arts and theatre. You will examine the importance of incorporating health, safety and security issues into event planning and design as well as identifying potential risks and proposed solutions. You will also look at the importance of event management within society and analyse the political, economic and environmental costs and benefits of events. View course

If you've got experience in childcare and would like to build on this by gaining a qualification, our Foundation degree in Early Years is designed for you. It's been developed in full consultation with employers. View course

This two-year, full-time programme is designed to give students the opportunity to develop their creative and practical skills in media production to a very high level. Students will develop experience in their subject through learning about the skills processes and technologies associated with the media production industry, and put them into practice through a range of vocational projects. This course is based around sports coaching, sport and fitness development and sport-related management. If you're hoping to work in the sports and leisure industry, you'll benefit from its strong emphasis on practical, work-based learning. View course

Extended Degree

If you want to study for a degree but do not meet the entry requirements, completion at this level will guarantee you entry onto the first year of your chosen degree.
