What are the Course Requirements?

Five GCSEs at Grade C or above in English, Maths and Science.

Am I right for the course?

This is a good progression route for students who have successfully completed the Level 2 in Agriculture.

Course Content - What will I learn?

The course covers a wide range of subjects including:

  • Business Management in the Landbased sector
  • Work experience
  • Investigative project within the Landbased sector
  • Anatomy & Physiology OR Plant and Soil Science
  • Plus some optional units such as: Livestock Production, Estate Skills, Dairy, Beef, Pig, Sheep production Subject to demand some additional units could be taken including machinery and crops.

    How will I be assessed?

    Every unit is assessed through written and practical assignments.

    What Next

    This qualification is designed to help you gain employment as a farm worker or farm manager. You could also progress into Higher Education.

    Our Animal Care Department comprises a large group of teaching staff with a wide range of animal industry experience including veterinary surgery and nursing, dog training, animal charities and safari parks. The team also has graduates of several disciplines including veterinary nursing & behaviour and wildlife conservation.

    For those of you wanting to go into employment, the aim of our course(s) are to produce competent carers working with animals, with the potential to take up management positions after further experience.
