Basketball Academy

Oaklands Basketball Academy in conjunction with England Basketball offers the opportunity for basketball players to combine their academic studies with an elite basketball environment. The programme is unique in giving boys and girls the chance to gain a variety of recognised academic qualifications whilst maximising their basketball potential.

Oaklands Academy provides an array of challenging competitive opportunities for each of its 80+ basketball athletes. Our internal player pathway enables us to deliver performance programs at every stage of basketball development from club through to National Team level. Competing in NBL D4, the EABL and WEABL, NBL U18, as well as national schools and AOC competitions, we have a team for every player as they progress through every level.

What you need

Ability will be assessed by the coaching staff at regional tournaments / league games or at three basketball trials during the year. Players can be recommended to the Academy through your school, club coach or regional coach/teacher. Entry requirements for the A levels and BTEC courses can be viewed alongside the course listing in this course guide.

What you will learn

The basketball programmes are timetabled to work alongside your academic and is focused on developing your individual ability to maximise your basketball potential.

Players can also gain further qualification sin basketball coaching, refereeing and officiating from our Academy development programme.

Potential Careers

Advancement within the academy will depend on your work ethic and willingness to develop your ability. Students have the opportunity to progress onto professional careers, basketball scholarships (USA or UK) or high performing UK Universities.
