EDSV Student to Represent England Football Team

After an outstanding start to their first season, the EDSV Academy has more reason to celebrate this week after goalkeeper Nick Thompson was named in the 18 man squad to represent England Colleges on their tour to Italy.

Nick, a student at Oaklands College, will travel to Roma this month where Romania, San Marino and Italian giants Lazio will provide the opposition on their tour.

A gruelling process that started with thousands of hopefuls ended with a final trial of 44 players from across the country, hoping to be selected within the squad. Fellow EDSV students Freddie Hill, Brad Richardson and Jack Hunt were also selected within the final group of trials, however were unfortunate to not make the final cut.

Academy Director, Chris Watters, commented: “I’m absolutely delighted for Nick, his attitude and determination is second to none. He’s at every session and puts in 100% commitment. He has the desire which is needed to achieve within the sport and this is the platform that his talents deserve to be seen on”.

The College would like to congratulate Nick on his success and wish him luck representing England.
