Over 90 Engineering students from Oaklands got a unique insight into further study and future careers in Engineering after a day’s visit to the University of Hertfordshire last week.

The trip was organised by our work experience experts ‘The Edge’ as part of this year’s Work It! campaign which organises activities and workshops for specific curriculum areas on advice on work, getting ready for work and the future of work.

During their trip, the students rotated through a department talk and tour to discuss future study opportunities and see the industry standard facilities at the University’s College Lane campus.  They also got to see the University Formula 1 car and climb aboard the Flight Simulator, with the chance to guide and navigate a flight in to land.

All groups also received a wider campus tour to see the rest of the facilities at the University and get a feel for life at University. The equipment engaged the students to ask some great questions and the days trip play a great part in encouraging the students to think about their studies and developing their future careers.
