ST ALBANS — Oaklands Wolves Football Academy, who are in their 15th year as an establishment, were recently treated to a coaching masterclass by England coach Andy Edwards.

Andy Edwards, who was part of the successful England Under 20’s coaching team that lifted the World Cup in South Korea, came to Oaklands’ St Albans campus to deliver a range of coaching drills to the academy students.

A former professional football player who previously managed Leyton Orient Football Club, Edwards took time out of his busy schedule working with the England Under 19s defensive setup to coach the talented footballers at the colleges academy.

Students were treated to an inspirational talk and were given the opportunity to chat and discuss their future plans within the football industry, before enduring a variety of high intensity training drills.

As well as the students, Oaklands Wolves Football Academy staff members, who had progressed through the ranks at the college themselves, were given the opportunity to learn from and enhance their coaching methods to ensure the academy players have the best development available to them, whilst at the college.

Stephen Castle, current Royston Town Football Club manager and Head Coach of the Football Academy at St Albans said: “It’s an incredible opportunity for our players to learn from an elite coach in English football, this is someone who has worked with the likes of Dominic CalvertLewin, Ademola Lookman and Lewis Cook, who all now play at the highest level in English football.”
