Foodies sample global cuisine at World Food Festival

Welwyn Garden City centre was a feast for the senses when the World Food Festival came to town.

Around 6,000 people sampled cuisine from around the globe, from pizza to jerk chicken, crepes to burgers, bratwursts to noodles.

Visitors also had the chance to watch live cooking demonstrations from local restaurants, including The Pig & Truffle and Mill Green Museum, as well as Hospitality & Catering staff from the College.

Live entertainment took place on the main stage throughout the day, including belly dancing, African drumming and performances from the College’s Music and Performing Arts students.

Oaklands’ Principal Zoe Hancock said: “We were delighted with the turnout for this year’s festival and it was great to see the huge variety of fantastic food we have right here in Welwyn Garden City. The festival is a great chance for people to try something new and get some inspiration to take home.”

The event was organised in partnership with the College and Welwyn Garden City Town Centre Partnership.
